There was not much plans left, only three wiew drawing, photos and discription. Spants were recovered by historian Gytis Ramoska. I started working at end of 2008 and now its finished.I am not as good as you are, but i am young, so I learn :)

So i want you to schou the pictures from the bigining to the end.

Absolutely gorgeous , great building, the only thing I am missing is the pilot. I think it's always a pity a scale glider without pilot

Thanks for the compliments,

Stephan:

Yes, there is no pilot, I am missing it too, but for me is a little hard to make scaled pilot

Vincent:

My next project is KPI-3 “Gintaras” unfortunately it’s 1:1

About the covering: I got it from my friend, it was left from covering L-Spatz, Bergfalke and Bro-23. All them are 1:1. So this covering is used in big gliders. Because its weight is not big, I decided to use it. Gluing it with AK-20, and stretching it with cellon.

Bro-5 weights 2240g

I forgot to mention that scale is 1:4

I also have a video of Bro-5

Congratulations for your beautiful model!

It's really a very interesting glider.

Can you give me some technical facts? p. ex. year of construction, design engineer, wingspan, length . . .

Thanks very much

Thank you

In 1937, Lithuanian designer, Bronius Oskinis decided to built a glider for long and fast towing, with opportunity to do aerobatics. In five months Designer with some help finished Bro-4. Once it was complete, only few test flights was made and it went straight to Elmyra, to the international competition (together with Minimoe built in Lithuania) There it shoud aerobatics. When it came back, Oskinis decided to improve "Ruta". Then he started designing new wing, and made some modifications for the fuselage, it was made longer ( Bro-4 leangth was 4,9m). So new Bro-5 "Ruta-2" was made in 1938. It was the best Oskinis work. It did aerobatics realy well, and also it flew cross-country too. She participated in few competitions. Unfortunately the war destroyed "Ruta"

Technical data of Bro-5 "Ruta":

Wing span- 11m

Wing area- 12 m2

Lenght- 5,6 m

aspect ratio- 10

Airfoil- Clark-Y and M-12

Empty weight- 130 kg

Flying weight- 220 kg

Wing Laod- 23.7 kg/m2

Glide ratio 21,5 at 74 km/h

Min sink 0,92 at 66 km/h

G limits- 10 -7,5

I enjoy very much browsing trough your building thread! Now i will go to loook a video!!

Some months ago I had URL in my browser with Lithuanian Vintage gliders. It seems it is not alive anymore. Pitty. I like those Lithuanian gliders a lot. Thankful I download allmost all photo material from that website

Some of those cute and rather small sailplanes were on my "must build once" list.

Many happy flights with your beautiful sailplane, and of course big welcome to Retroplane forum!

Wonderful!

This glider seems to be inspired by the Habicht, but is different enough to stand out from it.

It's always a real pleasure to discover a new type of glider, many thanks to share your experience with us!
