repairing Nemere scale 1:6

Last weekend we had a tow meeting in Kampen

We had a magnificent day and the Fokker FG-2 and the Nemere made a lot of very nice flights.
With the first flight the Nemere refused to uncouple, so it made some hefty moves before I could fly it home with the tow line dangling at its nose. The Nemere has a carbon wingjoiner and I forgot the warnings of Philippe (Clifton) about carbon wingjoiners, so I didn't check. A couple of flights later I steered quite badly and I had to uncouple at 200m. Immediately after the uncoupling both wings came loose, taking the horizontaql stabilizers also off. The fuselage went down like an arrow and I thought; thats the end of the Nemere. We (some collegues helped) started to collect the stuff, it was a windy day and the grass was high, so it was difficult to find the remains. First we found the fuselage and to my disbelief, only the cockpitpart was demolished, the tail was in perfect order
It took a couple of hours and then we had collected both wings, stabilizers.


I started to clean up




I had to make two new frames, laminated from strips of 0.6mm ply





using the same techniques as in the original building


I repaired the stingers with scarfed joints





replaced the nose section, using the keelbeam as reference






I glued the interior back in, puzzled how I made it a couple of years ago






Glued new panels on the uotside




I use fineer for the covering of the nose






Next is the staining of the ply and the cockpit, I still have the mold

Your repair job is as good as your constructions skill.
It will probably be stronger then your original construction. And nobody will see the difference.

Thanks for your nice comments .
Clifton warned for the carbon wingjoiners, I didn't checked it, pity.
I'll make a different wingjoiner, carbon tube with steel as safety or massive steel (thats very unforgiven with hard landings), so I still doubt.

Wir haben anderhalb stunde nach die letzet Flugel gesucht, wenn wir die nicht gefunden hatte, . Glucklich war nur die rumpfnase zerstort, nach ein fall von 200m, Ich war erstaunt.

Ich habe Niederlandische wie heist das "spellingscontrole" gibts andere probleme.

Bonjour a tous,

Some time ago I had the canopy glazing vacuum formed, so I could finish my Nemere. I planned to do the finish of the ply at the same time as my Gull.
I tinted it with bister (bistre en Francais) a water soluable pigment. After applying it with a brush, I spread it more evenly with a sponge






I put on two layers of porienfuller and finally a coat of PU boat varnish


In the meantime I laminated (same method as the frames) the support structure of the canopy, a fiddley job......my powerfile came in handy



tinted it a stronger bister solution

glued on the glazing in one piece (I found it difficult to get a good fit ) and put the instrument panel in



The repaired pilot (new feet) fitted in (he lost his sunglasses, they are not yet replaced).


Adri made new decals and a new wingjoiner (8mm steel ) was fitted. There where some small thing to fix at the wing and stabilizer, but everything worked and it came together nicely






Now I have to wait for better times to fly her.

Ja es wird zeit uw wieder zu fliegen, aber wir mussen warten....
So einer halbe stunde her war eine Mowe in kreisflug unter die Wolken....dann komt die lust zum fliegen stark zuruck

Wunderbare und schöne Realisierung.

Noch ein Segelflugzeug muss warten auf die Genehmigung zum Fliegen.
Wir mussen geduld haben, wir sind noch nicht mit der Quarantaine ferordung fertig und es wird lange dauern.

Hello everyone,

This week the quarantine (confinement) was loosened, we could use the field again . We had to keep 1.5m distance from each other. On some photo's it looks closer, but that's due to Raymonds tele photolens., It was blowing harder than predicted and the sky was exceptionel clear. It resulted in some very nice shots taken by Raymond (Fotor).

Always gusts at inconvienient moments


After this scary start it was wunderful to fly the Nemere again (with a steel wingjoiner )
It was a bright day and the sunlight through the wings was so nice.









The Nemere is such a nice clean glider



Its a good feeling that the Nemere is flying again, I hadn't expected that when she came down last year, lovely to see her fly again
