Dear Chris,
Again, an exceptional video. HD quality.
Every time you increase the quality level.
Also the flight is beautiful. Even with such a weight. Maybe it is even flying better with that load.
But I think that your slope do have an excellent efficiency.
Congratulations.

Hi Chris,
obviously you have chosen the wrong music for your video....
In germany nobody can see (and hear) it because of the music from UMG.
Regards
Walter |

Yes, it's strange how our Germans friends are blocked out. I will upload version II with 100% instead of 50% my own music...
The problem is: I can make gliders or I can make music, but I do not have time to make both

Hi Chris
Pleasing
I love you planes and the great vid's. Even my wife likes em - and she's normaly not so pleased about my hobby with 25 h daily in the hangar .
As I am always in research of everything about the Rhönsperber, i have the master question here: Do plan to make plans for the plane ?
or place tech specs (profiles / templates / etc.) at demand
Anyway, keep on - your work rocks!
Cheers
Beat

Beat, I drew the Rhonsperber in Illustrator, but I am a novice in CAD, so the drawings are pretty rough and not always updated. I have used my usual wing sections (HQ35/15-12). That said, anyone who wants a copy is most welcome...

Stephan, it is a fairly simple matter to modify the the thickness of the profile in either Compufoil or Profili...

Yes, Stephan, that is correct... The reason for changing the thickness is to achieve a compromise between the appearance of the full size (always thick!)
and getting a model that will perform as efficiently as possible, especially on the hill, where this can be very important.
My models are always 12% thick at the wing tip, but vary at the root depending on the decisions I make at the time. Thus the Bergfalke is 12% at the root (because it is small) and most of the larger models are 14 or 15%...
Here you can compare the model with the full-size:

Hi Chris
I'm also a bit confused about the HQ35-15/12.
On Dr. Quabecks page (http://www.hq-modellflug.de/) there is no HQ of this type anymore. He has now classified his profiles as follows:
» Freeflight (no RC) HQF-...,
» Flaps HQW-...,
» Oldtimer HQ/Oldy-...
» Flying Wings HQ/S-...
» für Winglets (low Re-Number) HQ/Winglet
» für dynamische Segler/Großsegler HQ/DS-...
» für Akrosegelflugmodelle HQ/ACRO-...,
Additionaly i have an old Book from the 80's where he has some HQ 35/xx series in (but it's 30 Jears old )
Could you send me coordinates from your used profile that i can compare with my data (any format is welcome)
(I think this works via private Mail, but i never used it therefore. Otherwise you could send me a message via my website and copy the data into the text.)
However, i will have to decide between the HQ35-15 to HQ35-12 layout and the MS 535-1 to MS535-3v version on the other side for my 1:3,5 Rhönsperber somehow.
Many thank in advance
Cheers,
Beat

Beat, E-mail sent...
This profile was developed about 30 years ago by Mr Quabeck, specifically for scale gliders. Regardless of how efficient it is, you can build a flat wing (no twist) and end up with a wing that very SAFE at low speed, that is to say it has no bad behavior at all, a very important consideration with a scale glider that has many hours of work in it
